💡GE HealthCare Acquires Intelligent Ultrasound for $51 Million GE HealthCare has officially acquired Intelligent Ultrasound Group’s clinical AI business in a $51 million deal, aiming to strengthen its ultrasound portfolio. The acquisition includes AI-driven image analysis tools designed to enhance ultrasound performance. “We are pleased to complete the sale of our clinical AI business to GE HealthCare for £40.5 million,” said Intelligent Ultrasound Chair Riccardo Pigliucci, expressing appreciation for the contribution of their COO, Nicholas Sleep, who now joins GE HealthCare. GE HealthCare plans to integrate these AI solutions into its existing ultrasound platforms, particularly in Women’s Health, while bringing in a team of R&D experts to advance AI-enabled image recognition technologies. This deal boosts GE HealthCare’s acquisition track record, aligning with the strategic 2023 acquisition of Caption Health. As the healthcare sector works toward reducing its carbon footprint, radiology departments are being urged to invest in sustainable practices. These practices aim to decrease energy consumption, minimize waste and promote the use of renewable energy. Imaging suppliers are also investing in programs to reduce carbon emissions and waste. Providers are leveraging federal programs and industry support from manufacturers to aid their efforts toward a greener and more sustainable practice in radiology.
