Occupational and Environmental Medicine considers unsolicited submissions of a variety of article types, including original research, systematic reviews, and short reports.

OEM and EPICOH have had a long-standing collaboration that has been cemented via a formal affiliation agreement. OEM is the official journal of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians of London, the Australian and New Zealand Society of Occupational Medicine (ANZSOM), and the Scientific Committee on Epidemiology in Occupational Health (EPICOH).

OEM is an international peer reviewed journal that publishes high quality research relating to the full range of chemical, physical, ergonomic, biological and psychosocial hazards in the workplace and to environmental contaminants and their health effects.

OEM is the official journal of the EPICOH 2023 conference, due to be held in Mumbai in March 2023, with the theme "Occupational Health Epidemiology: Need for Concerted Action". OEM was previously the official journal of the EPICOH 2021 Conference with the theme of "From the Workplace to the Population: Exposure and Prevention". The conference abstracts were published by OEM and are free to read.
