The Tolomeo lights were originally designed as desk lamps, but the collection now also includes a large number of models for other fields of application that at the same time feature slight modifications and further develop the original design.

In addition to models for exchangeable lamps, there are also versions with permanently installed LEDs and some with other useful lighting functions: the "Tunable White" technology for setting the colour temperature or a movement detector system that automatically switches off the lamp and thus saves electricity.

Characteristic of the Tolomeo design are the flexibly adjustable aluminum structure with articulated arms and spring system, as well as the rotatable, conical shade. The light can be adjusted flexibly and the structure holds every position stable. Thanks to this convincing functionality and to the design's minimalist elegance, the success of the Tolomeo lamp has never failed even after more than thirty years.

The Tolomeo lights by Artemide count among the most popular designer lights worldwide and were designed in 1987 by Michele de Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina.
