I fold the sweaters lengthwise in thirds and hang them over the bar of the hanger. I do the same with pants. No creases! voila

Thank-You, this helped a lot about the velvet hangers. Guess I will try them. I wonder how they do for sweaters and not leaving puckers.

Many years ago, I had the pant/skirt hangers with the rubber black clips. The rubber came off on the fabric. :-( I wonder if the newer ones are made better?

Re: A non-stick, perhaps stretchy sponge-like fabric to put over the faux wooden, slippery hangers.Great information! Do u have any suggestion to aide in making the faux wooden hanger less slippery? Desperate K.

Also, I forgot to say...excellent commentary about hangers. I think I'm going to try the open-ended hangers. I'm a quandary about what to do with my slacks as the velvet hangers leave marks in my folded slacks. Thank you!

I have some polos and sweaters on the velvet hangers. The shape and the grippiness of them I think helps because I haven't seen any puckers on them.

Also, regarding velvet hangers. Women prefer them much more than men on average just given the types of material and cuts of the shirts themselves that men use, the nonslip isn't really necessary at all.

It was a pleasant experience to read a well-written blog where the author actually proofread his column before publishing. I plan to try the open ended pant hangers; facing the crotch toward the back wall. I have especially needed to find an organized way to deal with my jeans. Hanging them over a chair, ten deep, is not a good look for my bedroom. I have never thought about which way the crotch should be hung. Now I believe my jeans could look much less bulky in my closet. I have found good deals on quality hangers at Ross. I have collected matching wooden hangers, a little at a time as my budget permitted. Thank you for this information. January seems to be the time to get better organized for the new year.

I noticed many of my velvet hangers didn't last & broke at the top where the chrome hangs on the rod. Am I just buying the wrong name brand?

Velvet hangers are fine if you know that sometimes they break if you handle them roughly or step on them. I love the neat look of them and I use shoulder attachments to help keep shoulder marks from forming.

Velvet hangers are TERRIBLE. I just got mine, same as yours but in blue color. My T shirts barely go on them because of how extremely non-slip the hangers are, I have to stretch my shirts just to fit them on these velvet hangers. Also, these hangers don't have a triangle shape but a poorly designed square type shape, so all the shirts shoulders are up high and straight and look aweful. I don't know what these could possibly be good for. Back to my multicolored plastic hangers. Waste of money, don't buy velvet hangers. So sticky you can't even slide your shirts on them.

Wire coat hangers are cheap and easy to find. Sure they work well for hanging ... I use coat hangers for lots of things but you shed a whole new light on the idea.

Does anyone know how to make the metal top of old clothes hangers smooth again? The clear plastic is good, but the top "hook" part has gotten rough.
