You may be asked not to eat or drink before your appointment but our bookings team will discuss everything with you when arranging your visit.

Ultrasound is a diagnostic tool. Ultrasound utilises high frequency sound waves to create images of internal body parts and structures such as tendons, muscles, joints, vessels and internal organs to look for changes.

An ultrasound is usually performed externally, on the outside of the body. During your scan, a transducer is passed over a body part using a translucent gel. Sound waves bounce off different parts of the body and are passed back to a computer and then the computer turns these sound waves into highly detailed images.

If you have any questions or queries, we are happy to help so please do not hesitate to get in touch. Alternatively, please look at the questions we are asked most often.
