It is contended that the phenomenological one-way-ness of temporal developments in physics is due to irretrodictability, and not due to irreversibility. This irretrodictability is shown to originate from a simple property of the very notion of conditional probability, independent of the structure of dynamical theories. It is demonstrated how macroscopic irretrodictability can be reconciled with microscopic retrodictability in classical physics. Quantum physics is irretrodictable, microscopically as well as macroscopically, whether it is invariant for T, TC, TP or TCP, or not invariant at all in any such sense.
