Philips Healthcare has added 2D intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) capability to its CX50 xMatrix portable ultrasound system, thanks to a partnership with cardiac technology developer St. Jude Medical.

Philips has integrated St. Jude's ViewFlex Xtra ICE catheter, a 2D catheter featuring four-way steering and single-handed control, according to Philips. The vendor will showcase the new capability on CX50 xMatrix at this week's European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EuroPCR) meeting in Paris.
