The default behavior for the SMART1500LCD should be to power back on. There are some things (e.g. fault conditions) that can impact this, but in any event I’d like to get to the bottom of it if you still have the unit. If you do, and you’re interested in working with us, can you direct message me your contact info and serial number?

If the power fails at this site long enough to run out the battery in this UPS, it shuts down, and STAYS OFF when utility power is restored until manually powered back on. Doh! Almost EVERY bad review on Amazon for this unit complains about this same thing, so I don’t think mine is defective, this just seems to be the way they are. I can’t imagine WHY a unit would be designed this way given it’s purpose. I am sorry to say it will be the ONLY Tripp Lite unit on my network until it gets replaced with a different brand.

I come in this morning after the frantic “network down” message (at the dentist…oh joy as he’s probing at my gums) and when I get in.

Two years ago I decided to give Tripp Lite a try on a small project, so I ordered a “Tripp Lite SMART1500LCD 1500VA Smart UPS”.

These sorts of things are often easier to troubleshoot on a phone call. Have you spoken with support yet? If not, give them a call at 773 869 1234 (Option 3) if you have time now (it’s best if you’re near the UPSes at the time of the call).

Disappointing to say the least. (and the dentist was even less fun with that IM that I got sent LOL in the middle of it)

Alternatively, you can open a support ticket here: https://www.tripplite.com/support/help or direct message me your information and we can set something up.

Obviously, we don’t like to hear about things not working as expected, but there are tons of SMART1500LCDs deployed and sometimes things don’t go according to plan. We stand behind the product and try to make it right when users have an issue. Hope we can do that here!

If Tripp-Lite can’t help you get this worked out, I’d suggest replacing the UPS. I’ve used them before, but I like CyberPower better. They are about the same price, but my experience has been that they are a better quality.
