Mitigating the unequal distribution of intense surface temperatures requires a multi-faceted approach that encompasses a range of policy, public health, urban planning and nature-based solutions. Advancements in technology are helping to revolutionize how we approach this challenge and create more sustainable and livable urban environments. On September 5, industry leaders Keenan Gibbons and Salvador Lindquist, ASLA will share how infrared technologies and advanced computational techniques were utilized to collect and analyze temperature data in Omaha, Nebraska during an 18-month research initiative. The pair will discuss findings and introduce a toolkit to enable landscape planners and policymakers to make better-informed decisions through the use of thermal visualization tools.
