?The kerf is the width of the sawblade. This width (usually 5mm) corresponds directly with the width of the slot that the sawblade will cut into the material. This material turns to swarf and therefore is lost from the length of any remaining off cut. For example, If 1 cut is requested, 5mm of material is lost.
